Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This privacy policy applies to the Weather Diary Pro app ("Application") for iOS devices, created by Baran Toppare ("Service Provider," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Location Data

What we collect: Location information (approximate or precise, depending on your iOS location settings)

How we use it: Your location is used to fetch current weather data from Apple WeatherKit for your area and to display your city name (reverse geocoding) using Apple MapKit.

Storage: We do not store a location history. Location information is used to make weather and city-name requests and is not intentionally retained by us after the request completes.

Frequency: Location is accessed when you open the app and during background refresh attempts (controlled by iOS).

2.2 Weather Data

The Application automatically collects and stores weather data locally on your device, including:

• Temperature (in Celsius)
• Cloudiness percentage
• Wind speed
• Precipitation intensity
• Weather conditions (clear/cloudy/rainy)
• Day/night context
• Timestamp of data collection

Storage method: All weather data is stored in a local SQLite database on your device using GRDB framework.

Important: Your saved weather history database is stored on your device and is not uploaded by us to our own servers. To provide weather and location-based features, the app sends requests to Apple services (WeatherKit/MapKit). We do not sell your saved weather history.

2.3 Purchase and Subscription Data

To manage subscriptions and in-app purchases, we use Apple's in-app purchase system and RevenueCat (a third-party service) to help validate subscription status and entitlements.

What RevenueCat collects:

• Device information (device type, operating system version)
• Transaction information (Apple receipt files, purchase tokens, purchase history, subscription status, entitlement information)
• App usage timestamps (last seen time when you used the app)
• Network information (IP address, from which general location may be inferred)
• App-specific user identifiers (if provided by the app to associate purchases with your app usage)

What RevenueCat does NOT collect:

• Personal information (name, email address, phone number) unless explicitly provided by us
• Your saved weather history data (this remains on your device only)
• Precise location data (only general location may be inferred from IP address)

This information is used solely to determine which features you have access to based on your subscription status and to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf and processes this data in accordance with our agreement with them.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Location data: To fetch weather information for your current location
• Weather data: To display current conditions and provide historical analytics and trends
• Purchase data: To manage subscription entitlements and unlock Pro features
• Analytics data: To understand app usage patterns, improve features, and enhance user experience (see Section 5.4 for details)

4. Data Storage and Security

All weather data is stored locally on your device in the app's Application Support directory using SQLite. Your weather history data:

• Remains on your device only
• Is not uploaded by us to our own servers
• May be included in device backups (including iCloud backups) depending on your iOS settings
• Is shared with third-party services only as needed to fetch weather/city information and to manage subscriptions (see "Third-Party Services")
• Is protected by iOS's app sandboxing security
• Is removed from your device when you delete the app (backup/restore behavior depends on your iOS settings)

Analytics data: Analytics data collected via Mixpanel is stored by Mixpanel on their servers in accordance with their privacy policy. This data does not include your saved weather history, which remains on your device only.

Subscription data: Subscription and purchase data processed by RevenueCat is stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. This data does not include your saved weather history, which remains on your device only.

5. Third-Party Services

The Application uses the following third-party services:

5.1 Apple WeatherKit

Used to fetch current weather data for your location. Subject to Apple's privacy policy.

5.2 Apple MapKit

Used for reverse geocoding (converting coordinates to city names for display). Subject to Apple's privacy policy.

5.3 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to help manage subscriptions and validate entitlements for Pro features. RevenueCat processes subscription and purchase data on our behalf to ensure you have access to the correct features based on your subscription status.

What RevenueCat collects:

• Device information (device type, operating system version)
• Transaction information (Apple receipt files, purchase tokens, purchase history, subscription status, entitlement information)
• App usage timestamps (last seen time when you used the app)
• Network information (IP address, from which general location may be inferred)

5.4 Mixpanel

We use Mixpanel, a third-party analytics service, to understand how users interact with Weather Diary Pro. This helps us improve the app and understand which features are most valuable to our users.

What we collect via Mixpanel:

• App usage events (screen views, feature interactions, button taps)
• Subscription events (purchases, paywall views, subscription status changes)
• App performance data (crash information, performance metrics)
• Device information (device type, operating system version, app version)
• IP address and general location data (country/region level, not precise location)

What we do NOT collect via Mixpanel:

• Personal information (name, email address, phone number)
• Precise location data (Mixpanel only receives general location derived from IP address, not your actual GPS coordinates)
• Your saved weather history data (this remains on your device only)
• Cross-app or cross-website tracking (we do not track you across other apps or websites)

Data handling:

• Analytics data is anonymized and not linked to your personal identity
• Data is stored and processed by Mixpanel in accordance with their privacy policy
• Mixpanel may use this data to provide analytics services to us and for their own business purposes as described in their privacy policy

6. What We DO NOT Do

The Application does NOT:

• Collect email addresses or require user accounts
• Display advertisements or use ad tracking
• Integrate with social media platforms
• Provide an in-app cloud sync or cloud backup feature for your weather history
• Sell your data to third parties
• Share your saved weather history with analytics services (your weather data remains on your device only)
• Use analytics for cross-app or cross-website tracking (we do not track you across other apps or websites)
• Link analytics data to your personal identity (analytics data is anonymized)

Note: While we do use Mixpanel for analytics to improve the app (as described in Section 5.4), we do not use analytics for advertising, cross-app tracking, or any purpose beyond understanding app usage patterns to improve our service.

7. Background Data Collection

The Application may use iOS Background App Refresh to opportunistically collect weather data when the app isn't actively being used. Background refresh scheduling is controlled by iOS and respects your device's Background App Refresh settings. You can disable this feature in your iOS Settings.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Retention: Weather data is stored indefinitely on your device until you choose to delete it or uninstall the app.

User Control: You can delete all collected weather data at any time through the app's Settings → Debug Tools → "Delete All Data".

App Deletion: Local app data is removed from your device when you uninstall the Application. Depending on your iOS backup settings, some app data may exist in backups and could be restored if you reinstall the app.

No Service Provider Servers: We do not store your saved weather history on our own servers, so there is no server-side weather history for us to delete.

9. Subscription Model

The Application operates on a freemium subscription model:

• Free Tier: Access to current weather, history, and basic analytics (7, 14, 30, and 60-day ranges)
• Pro Tier: Unlocks advanced analytics time ranges (90 days, 6 months, 1 year, and all time)

Important: Your stored weather data is never deleted, hidden, or modified based on subscription status. Only access to certain analytics views is limited in the free tier.

10. Children's Privacy

The Application does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. Since we don't collect email addresses, names, or other personal information, and all data remains on-device, the app is safe for all ages. 11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Right to Access: You can access all your weather data within the app's History section
• Right to Delete: You can delete all your data through app settings or by uninstalling the app
• Right to Opt-Out: You can disable location access in iOS Settings, though this will prevent the app from functioning

12. International Data Transfers

We do not transfer your saved weather history to our own servers. However, Apple (WeatherKit/MapKit), RevenueCat, and Mixpanel may process requests on servers that could be located in different countries, depending on their infrastructure. Please review their privacy policies for details on data residency and international transfers.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new privacy policy on this page
• Updating the "Effective Date" at the top
• Providing an in-app notification (for material changes)

You are advised to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
